This full day adventure was enjoyed by all of the children. In the morning we started out with some programming. We were able to some Gem Stone Mining. With this activity the children used a tray to wash away the sand and there were some rocks that they were able to take home.
We heard about the three pot belly pigs. The two male ones need to go on a diet (they said it not me). They were Babe, Kevin Bacon and Wilbur (I think!)
Then we were able to pick out our very own mini pumpkin and go on a tractor/train ride.
After all of our work was done we ate lunch. Then it was time to experience the many other things that there were to do: bouncy castles, big slides, rope maze, bean bag toss, etc. The children were worn out by the time we had to leave to go back to school on the bus.
This is where we display the different learning we do in our classroom. I want to inspire children to love learning and engage them in fun and meaningful tasks.

Number Hunting
We are working on recogniszing the numbers one to ten and counting one to one. I had the children try and walk around the room and circle the correct number of items on the paper. It is like an activity called write the room only this time we were circling the numbers. The morning class chose to work by themselves and the afternoon class worked in partners.

Field Trip to Bowness Park
We had a great day at Bowness Park on Monday. We had a lot of activities to do while we were there.
Activity One: Look around the environment and find signs of the season changing. We then used a colour card to match different things they found in the environment.
Activity Two: We explored trying to be creative to make pictures out of found things. We used a black laminated piece of paper and then gathered rocks, leaves and other things. Here are some of the pictures the children made.
Activity Three: We also laid down on the ground and closed our eyes. Then we listened to the different sounds. Some of us heard the leaves moving on the trees, cars, children, airplanes and the different vehicles.
Activity Four: Tracing your friend and then trying to do hopscotch in different ways.
Activity Five: Using a frame the children were asked to try and draw what they can see in the environment.
Activity Six: Gather different items form the environment for us to bring back and explore. We also found things that matched different words like soft, hard, cold etc.

More with 'T'
When working with the letter 't' I asked the children to come up to the board where I had written some letters and circle the 't'. Some were uppercase and others were lowercase. They did a really great job. After practicing the 't' sound one more time we created word list. We often hear the 't' at the end of words that became a little tricky but we all worked hard.
Sorry some of the drawings are not the best. |
The letter 'T'
This week we focused on the letter 'T'. We sang a song to remind us of the sounds that the letter t makes. We then created turkeys using multiple steps. It was a little tricky but we all did our very best.

Can you find your child's turkey? Ask them for help. We then went on to talk about things that we may be thankful for because of Thanksgiving. Some of the children sat and thought for a very long time. Some of the answers were: my family, love, lots of food, my big bed, trees to make oxygen for us to breath.

Lacrosse At School
This week in gym. We had some specialists come in from the ELEV8 company. Coach Dan and Coach Bob helped us to learn some different skills. The first skill they taught us was how to scoop the ball from the ground without touching it with our hands. We then went on to learn how to toss and catch, balance it on the side and shoot on the net. Many of the children needed to show persistence in order to become successful and there were many smiles all around the gym as we practiced these new skills. Our favourite part was when we got to play 'What time is it Mr. Wolf?'
